All shipping are subject to Customs Law and Regulations, and all passengers are subject to the usual Customs Formalities. Baggage or articles belonging to passengers and crews are immediately released except for those selected by the Customs Authorities for inspection. It is strictly forbidden to carry any kind of material made by or originating from Israel.
Prohibited Goods Narcotics and non-branded drugs, any products of Israel origin, pornographic or obscene items, anti-religious publications, films, weapon (including guns and ammunition).
Decorative weapons may be allowed with licensing from the Ministry of Defense.
Satellite dishes and cellular phones require approval from the Ministries of Communication and Defense.
Audio and Video tapes, CD's and CD-Rom's must be packed separately and clearly marked.
Required Documents: Declaration from based on the Single Administrative Document (SAD), Bill of Lading, Packing List, Commercial Invoice (original), Delivery Order (to prove ownership of goods).
Quietus from the Social Security Office renewed every six months (required only for legal persons and commercial establishments).
Contract of sale between importer and seller at the country of exportation (may be requested for value verification only in case customs officers doubt the invoice value).
Certificate of origin, issued by Chamber of Commerce in the country of exportation (required in case importer wishes to benefit from preferential treatment).
Depending on the type of imported goods, a number of other documents may also be required including import license, conformity certificates to mandatory standards, or phyto-sanitary certificates.
Labeling and Packaging regulations: Products must be clearly marked, stamped, branded or labeled, to indicate the country of origin. Use of English is acceptable, but for added safety, bilingual or even trilingual language (Arabic and French) labeling is advisable, particularly if the product is aimed at the mass market.
In addition to providing information on country of origin, it is also recommended that labels also provide information regarding:
Placement of identification data, identification of the manufacturer, product information, standard quality disclosures, ingredients, date of manufacture, date of expiry (no goods are permitted with an expiry date of less than six months). |
