Import Regulations in Latvia

The importation of used personal effects is allowed with no value restrictions. All import documentation should be kept for presentation when goods are re-exported, as this will avoid export duty and tax.

Prohibited Goods
1.powdered infant milk, infant food and special foods required for medical reasons provided that: the product does not require refrigeration before consumption; it is a packaged brand product; the packaging is unbroken.

2. personal consignments from the Faeroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland with a combined total weight that does not exceed 5 kg.

3. personals consignments from Andorra, Norway and San Marino.

Required Documents
The following is a list of the documents that are needed when importing into Latvia:
Commercial invoice, Customs Value Declaration, Freight Insurance, Customs Import Declaration, Freight Documents, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Insurance certificate, VI1 Certificate.

Import Taxes and Tariffs: Goods imported into Latvia are normally subject to a Value Added Tax (VAT). While the VAT applies equally to domestically-produced goods, the VAT rate for imports from third-countries is higher, because the VAT is charged on the duty as well as the value of the product and the shipping cost. 

Labeling Requirements
The following information must be presented on the label (in Latvia):
Name under which the product is sold, list of ingredients, net quantity of pre-packaged beverage in metric units, date of minimum durability, any special conditions for keeping or use, name or business name and address of the manufacturer, packager or importer established in the EU, place of origin or provenance, instructions of use, indication of the acquired alcoholic strength, lot making on pre-packaged beverages.
