The Central African Republic is a signatory to GATT and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Also it entered the African Organization for Intellectual Property (OAPI).
Prohibited Imports The official government strictly prohibits and controls firearms, ammunitions and toxic materials.
Import Documentation: bill of lading, border crossing authorization, cargo release order, collection order, commercial invoice, customs attestation, Customs import declaration, Form S101 (transit document), import license, insurance certificate, packing list, pre-shipment inspection clean report of findings, tax certificate, technical standard/health certificate, terminal handling receipts, transit letter LTA (Lettre de Transportation), truck manifest (feuille de route), value verification attestation (from BIVAC).
Import Duties There is a 5 % duty on goods of first priority, 10 % on raw materials and capital products, 20 % on subsidiary and miscellaneous products, and 30 % on consumer items. Duty rate is applied on CIF.
Turnover tax and Community Integration tax may apply, along with as excise taxes on beer, wine and spirits, perfumes, tobacco and cosmetic goods etc. |
